WV POINT SOURCE INNOVATIONS WORKGROUP Information and Calendar The Point Source Innovations Workgroup held its first meeting in Romney, WV October 29, 2004. The initial workgroup was assembled by invitation to get a cross-section of experience and regional perspective. Representatives from municipal and public service district wastewater utilities, manufacturing and food processing plants, and mining attended along with technical specialists from environmental non-profits and West Virginia DEP. The workgroup has been charged with developing plans and concepts for point source dischargers to meet anticipated new nutrient and sediment limits needed to protect downstream water quality in the Chesapeake Bay. The basis and scope for the challenge has been outlined in the WV Tributary Strategy plan that is under development and available elsewhere on this site. It is anticipated that by working collaboratively within the point-source sector, and through possible cooperative relationships with other nutrient contributing sectors, there will be cost and efficiency opportunities found to bring both economic and environmental benefits. The workgroup will meet monthly and will be supported by WV DEP and the Potomac Basin Coordinator, Alana Hartman ( ahartman@wvdep.org ). The next meeting is scheduled for 9:00 am, Thursday, July 28, 2005. All meetings will be held in Martinsburg in the public meeting room of the Berkeley Public Service Sewer District office at 65 District Way. From I-81 take Exit 16E toward Martinsburg (Edwin Miller Blvd). At the second light (Sheetz on corner) turn left, then immediate right turn onto frontage road in front of bank.
